Proposed Sawmills for Apiti

» On Thursday last, a meeting was held in Mr D. McKeuzie's Woolshod at Apiti, when about 25 settlers were ■ present, for tho purpose of considering the advisability of erecting sawmills at Apiti Mr Guy was voted to the cbair. Mr Buckman, convener, explained the object of tho meeting, and stated the necessity of sawmills being established on the spot, that he had spoken to many settlers about the matter, and the? all see mod to approve of the idea. He further stated that the mills at present running were unable to execute orders, and the cost of carriage was a very heavy item. Mr Ben Poole aud others all spoke favorably, and a general opinion was expressed by those present, that a Company should be formed. Mr Richmond, Solicitor, Feildiu£, read tho Memorandum of Association, and explained the methods necessary to form an incorporated Company. The Memorandum was signed, and a Committee appointed, consisting of Messrs Claphain, Guy, E. Goodbehere, Buckman, Vicary, W. Webb, B. Poole, and D. McKenzie, to canvass for shares aud report to a meeting to be held on Tuesday the 7th prox. The capital of the Company to be 100 shares at £o per share. Before the meeting broke up, 20 shares were taken up in the room.
