Wesleyan Concert and Coffee Supper

Tho members of the above body, and their friend--, mustered in »ood numbers at die sociiil, wlticu was held last ni^lit in the As.-embly Rooms. The Rev. Mr Watkin presided, and the following programme was gone through : — Overture, by the Orchestra ; followed by a chorus from the choir, which was very well rendered ; Mr Ivobson suns: two liumer ous songs, and was encored ,- sonjjs were also contributed by the Misses Stewart, Bellve. Oliver, and Tozcr, /ill of whom came in for plenty of npplnuse. Master Oliver's pianoforte solo was very creditably puffed ; aud Mr Kitchen's violin solo, as usual, was given in his well known finished stylo. Mr Haybittlo was doservodly encored for his oxcellont rendering of " Homo boyp Home." Mr GabitGs' contribution to the ovening'6 amusement.s consisted of a reading entitled " Mr Caudle is made a Mason," and was greeted with roars of laughter, Mrs Caudle's strong objections being provocative of much amusement. At the conclusion of the concert supper was served. The Rev. Chairman then mido a few remarks, and stated tho objects of the concert and social. The friends in connection with tho Wnsleyan Church had come to tho conclusion that the building which had douo duty in the past, was not large enough for the present requirements of Feildiug. Tho town was progressing and so must tho Wesleyans, and thoreforo they had decided to build a now Church. Tho iadies had taken the matter in hand, and ho felt sure that they would accomplish; tho object on which thoy had sot thoir minds. The proceeds of tho concert that evening would form a nucleus of a fund far that purpose. Mr Jolly proposed a voto of thanks to the ladies, aud to tho choir, and to all who had taken part in tho evening's entertainmeut. A pleasant evening was concluded with the customary voto of thanks to the Chairman.
