The Panama Canal Scandal
(PKB PBBSS ASSOCIATION.) Paris, January 12. M. Eiffel admits having received thirtythree million francs for contracts, and of that amount he only spent five million on tho works, keeping the ballance for himself. It is reported that M. De Freycinet has confessed to receiving two million francs trom the Panama Canal Company for seeret purposes. The Panama Canal revelations are weakening the closely cordial relatious which have lately existed between France and Russia. The Bank of France has intimated to the Bank of England to prepare for the removal of her credit balance in the case of an emergency arising. A manifesto issued by the Socialists declares that the present system of government in France must he abolished, and deprecates the country being governed by a handful of criminals.
