Correspondence

♦ AN EXPLANATION.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAR. Sir, — You published the tenders for cottages at the Barracks in your last issue. The question has been asked, Why is there so much difference 1 The reason, which is only fair that you should have published, was that each tenderer drew plans which he thought were best to be done — hence the difference. Mr Pope has told me since that I intended to do much more improvements than he intended, and the same, I suppose, with the other tenderers. Some such information should have been given in the publishing of the tenders. I am, etc., Wm. Heald.
