Whilst a young man named Du<™aii was walking through the bush near the Spur',ri>ad, on the way to his work in company with another man who \yns behind him carrying a slashor uver his shoulder, the slasher caught in a supple jack, and in the rebound struck Dug^an in the back inflicting a nasty wound, which extended several inches in length. Tho sufferer was able to come in to town and have tho wound attended to by Dr. Sorley.
