Good Templary in Feilding
The practical nature of Mr E. Tennyson Smith's advocacy of the temperance cause has been again evidenced, a new Lodge of the above order having been successfully opened by him last evening. We learn that Feilding has made a record in templary, the initial membership of the Lodge (59) being higher than that of any Good Templar Lodge ever started in New Zealand. The meeting commenced at 10 o'clock, and after refreshments had been handed round Bro. Tennyson Smith, S.D.G.C.T., assisted by his wife (Sister E. T. Smith) and Bro. 0. H. Markland, con- , ducted the opening and the readmission ceremonies. Then 51 ladies and gentlemen were presented and duly initiated. It was decided to call the new Lodge " The Hope of Feilding," and to hold the next meeting on Thursday next, at 8 p.m., in the Foresters' Hall. The initiation : fees and quarterly dues were fixed at 2/6. ' The following wore then elected and ( installed as officers of the Lodge :— C. T. Bro H. Jolly ; V.T., Sister Poad ;S. J.T., s Bro.
