Messrs Lowes and lorns, of Masterton, report on their sale on Thursday last as follows :— This sale was the largest of the season, and was very numerously attended by eager buyers. There were 750 head of cattle of a superior description, the majority being well-bred steers in good condition, and 6000 sheep, all of which were sold afr auction at what was generally considered most satisfactory rates for the vendors. The following are the prices obtained : — The first pen, containing 126 2£ and 3 year* old steers fresh condition, made L 5 12s; the next pen of 100, a little older but inferior, L 5 Ss. Then followed a pen of 80 well-bred 2 to 2s*year steers in good order, rea« Using L 5 16s Younger steers, in pens of 30 to 50, sold at 82s to 92s 6d ; yearling steers, 57a 61; young heifers, 55s to 60s ; cowa and heifers, mixed ages and quality, 66s to 735 ; weaners, from 36s to 50s ; a pen of half-bred yearlings Ayrshire heifers, very quiet, 60s ; fat cows, 91s to L 5 2s 6d ; fat steers; L 6 3s to L 7 2s 6d. Of the 6000 sheep yarded over 5000 were wethers, 2«tooth bringing from 8s lid to 10s 4d ; 4* tooth, 11s ; forward ditto, 11s 3d ; young ewes, 10s 8d ; aged ewos and lambs in the wool, 13s lOd to 14s. There was no demand for horses,
