Manchester Horticultural Society.
This Society's spring show was held in the Feilding Assembly Rooms, yesterday. The attendance was fairly good in the afternoon, but was capital during the evening. The show, though competion in some of the classes was only moderate, was nevertheless a good one. Some very fine specimens of pot plants were exhibited, the specimen pelargonium shown j by Mr Shailer, was good enough to take a prize anywhere. In the class for cut flowers, some very fine varieties of carnations and roses showed up well. The exhibits in the bouquet class were capital, especially the button hole, hand, table, and bridal bouquets. The competition for fruit, vegetables, and produce was not great, and the exhibits call for no special mention. Mr J. Mayo, of Palmerston North, officiated as Judge, and his decisions appeared to meet with general satisfaction. The new Secretary, Mr C. Fitzherbert, carried out his duties in an i able manner, During the evening, the | Feilding Br&88 Band played selections of music in their customary excellent way, several of the items being particularly well rendered.
