Stock Markets
Messrs Lowes and Irons held their regular stock sale at Eketahuna yesterday which was well attended by eager buyers, young cattle especially meeting with keen competition. The stock yarded was considerably in excess of the entries, and realised the following prices — Dairy cows, 90s to 100s ; store cows, from 70s ; forward ditto, 100s ; yearling to 18-montbs steers, 50s; heifers same age, 575; weaners mixed sexes, 435. A few horses were offered but there was no demand. Immediately after the above sale, the firm sold on the premises at Pashville the property of Mrs E. McCrill, comprising about 13£ acres and a number of cattle, the property realised £16 per acre and the cattle as follows — Milch cows from, 75s to £5 ; heifers from, 62s to £4 2s 6d ; yearlings, 45s to 52s 6d ; steers 85s. The sales were considered very satisfactory, and denoted more life in the settlement than has characterised the previous sales -this season. Messrs Gorton and Son report as follows on their Feilding sale.
