SUNDAY BATHING.

TO THB EDITOR OF THE STABi Sir,— ln your issue of the 22nd inst-r I observed a letter signed " Sleepy Head " in which the writer refers to the " larrikins " who bathe near the Oroua bridge. Now, Sir, allow me to say a few words in defence of these larrikins. It is quite true that several young men and boys are in the habit of bathing in the Oroua, but as I myself was one of these " larrikins " I must inform " Sleepy Head " that the bathers were at least three-quarters of a mile away from the bridge or from any dwelling. I fancy " Sleepy Head" must have been in the position of the old maid in a recent copy of " Punch," who was complaining of people bathing near her house ; and on it being pointed out that they were quite out of sight, she said : •• Ah ! But with a telescope, you know !" Thanking you m anticipation. I am, etc., One of the " Larrikins.
