Concert at Campbelltown
A concert was given in Campbelltown last night in connection with the organ fund of the Primitiye Methodist Church here. There was an excellent attendance. The first item was a selection on the organ by Miss Gieson, which was played with great taste. Mrs Lyon was in capital voice, and gave an excellent rendering of the ' Last Milestone.' Mr Kitchen followed with a violin solo, which was given in his usual finished style. Miss Alice Gould sang • The Gates of the West ' | very sweetly. Mr Shearer brought down the house by his song, ' The Working Man.' The glee, • Hail Smiling Morn,' sung by Mrs Lyon, Misses Blackmore, Hamilton and Gould and Messrs Shearer and Attwood, brought the first part of the concert to a close. The second part included two anthems by the choir, a violin solo by Mr Kitchen, in which he was accompanied on the organ by Miss Ethel Hamilton, a song, ' The Soldiers Tear,' by Ethel Hamilton, which was very well received, a spirited recitation by Mr Gieson and songs by Mr Shearer and Mrs Lyon, The concert was .under the conduotorship of Mr Shearer, who ably acquitted himself. Miss Gieson was the organist, and she and Mr Kitcbeu contributed much to the success of the entertainment. Re* freshments were served out during the evening The Rev. T. H. Lyon occupied the chair, and announced that the church and organ were now both out of debt.
