The Feilding Star. TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 1892. Labor Agitators

It is very much the fashion for selfappointed alleged labor-leaders to bring themselves into notoriety by making incendiary speeches. The latest is a Mr Wright who, when addressing an assemblage at Tower Hill on Saturday last, said that London will unexpectedly witness the spectacle of a midnight march of unemployed. He prophetically stated " there was no saying what would happen, and the unemployed would very soon have a nice and lively time of it." Which, being interpreted, means that the playful games of robbery, plunder, and violence would be indulged in at the expense of the law-abiding members of the community. Luckily, however, for the latter the means at the disposal of the authorities are so powerful and so admirably organised, that beyond the excusable alarm of those whose residences, or places of business may be on the line of march, very little real harm will be done. The timely warning given by Mr Wright will, no doubt, be accepted, and all necessary precautions taken for the protection of life and property. In threatened troubles of this character it is not the really suffering unemployed who are the most active-— even if they appear on the scene at all — but the criminal classes, to be found congregated in all large cities like London or Paris, who take advantage of opportunities such as these to pursue their unholy avocations as robbers and plunderers.
