The usual monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday last. Present — Messrs Taylor (chairman), Morton, Reid, Shannon, Homer, and Jones. ... Bryce and three other settlers at Pemberton, stating that they haye decided to get two chaius of the Whare road fascmed, and a ditch dug, at a cost of £5, and asking the Board to repay them the amount, when in funds. ■ From the Land and Survey Office, to the effect that Thomas Start's interest m section 23, block 1, Apiti, is cancelled." Perry, asking the Board to spend their accrued thirds in making a track round by the School and Ferry Reserves. Birmingham. ' From Younger and Laing, re contract for " Peep'o'Day " metalling, and refund of their deposit, and asking the Board to i econsider its determination. ~ From A. Munro, confirming Mr Ruff's letter re fallipg road line on Stewart's line. . - From R. Taylor, Junr., calling the Board' s attention to the state of the road leading from Tapuae road to the Kiwitea stream, and requesting that his thirds may be spent in culverting and clearing the same, .&■.. From the Colonial Secretary, notifying that the special order re levying two special rates, was gazetted on the 27th of October last. r . : From the Treasury, forwarding £60 grant for the Whare road, i ' From W, Meldrum, Solicitor, Hunterville, requesting the Board to retain any sums due to Thomas Powell for road contracts in respect of wages due to the undermentioned.— Edward Coyne £4 l6s; Michael Hogan £9 19s, M. Jordan £19 2s, John Campbell £6 18s, James Curtin £20, John Duffy, £20 4s, B. McCarthy £19 2s, and Thomas Williams £6 18s, as per judgments obtained byi the eaid plaintiffs against Thomas Powell in the Wanganui R.M. Court. • VThe Engineer's report was read all follows : — Mr Newmans contract on the Waituna road is given up, he having filed; Mr Powell has left his work on the Sandon Small Farm Block in an unfinished state, and the Engineer recommends the Board to call for fresh tenders to com* plete the work of stumping and clearing the Waipura zoad, and that the contracts on the Rangitikei east, and (Mangamaho roads be completed by day work. Also that fresh tenders be called for the comV pletion of the Waituna valley road contract* Monteith and Curtis contractors for the Rangitikei east road,; haye left their work in an unfinished state, and notice has been given them to complete . the job at once, or the contract would be taken out of their hands- Mr Rink has been written to, to finish delivering metal on the Kimbolton road, .also to Mr An-, derson to proceed with the metalling on the northern line. Three gullies on Bryce's road require filling and culvert* ' ing at a cost of £15. . ( j Proposed by Mr Reid, seconded by Mr Morton, That the Chairman represent this ' Board on the Palmerstpn Hospital Committee for the current year. — Carried. Resolved, That the motion accepting Youuger and Lamg's tender for metalling Kimbolton road north of " Peep-o'Day " be rescinded. ■ '-'-.;. Resolved, That tenders be called for the delivery of 2200 yards of metal on the Kimbolton road north of ~" Peep-o'Day." Tenders to state the price per yard. Resolyed, That C. A. Levett, be placed on the rate roll in place of A. Rendall. ". Resolved, That in all oases where con? tractors haye left their work unfinished; and that the Engineer has given them notice to complete the same, that the Engineer finish the work at the cost of the defaulting contractor. - • -■ Resolved, That the Clerk be instructed to sue for the outstanding rates. Resolved, That a surface man be sent for a week to the Kiwitea Cross-road, to do the necessary work there. Resolved, That the agreement made between Messrs Ruff and Munro, be agreed to, re money for felling road line. Resolved, That tenders be called for the completion of Newman and Co,'s contract on the Waituna valley road. Resolved, That Thomas Powell be given notice that his contracts on Rangitikei East, Mangamaho and Waipuru Lands Sandon block is determined, and that the Engineer get the two first contracts finished by day work at the contractor's cost and charge, and that the Engineer call for fresh tenders foa stumping and clearing on Waipuru road. Resolved, that Mr James Paulin's request re gravel reserves be agreed to, and that arrangements be made between him and this Board leasing the said reserve to him at Is per acre per annum for ten years, (same to be cleared and grassed by him), Mr Paulin to pay for the agree- . ment. Resolved, That the Engineer be instructed to do the work required on the Whare road in terms of J. J. Bryce's re- ■ quest, . Resolved, That Messrs Taylor and Reid be authorized to affix the Board's seal to the settlement of accounts between the Pohangina Board and this Board. Resolyed, That Mr Jones sign cheques * this day in place of Mr Williamson. Resolved, That tenders be called for a: six foot side cutting on the." Peep o'Day " road, at a cost not exceeding £34, the amount of thirds now due. The lowest or any tender not necessarily to be accepted. ! Resolved, That a Ranger be appointed by this Board, to impound all cattle and other stock found straying on the pubho roads, and that applications from persons willing to accept the position be called, said .applications to be in by next Board day.
