♦ : Messrs Gorton and Son report as follows: — The entries at our Awahun sale on Tuesday were smaller than usual but still they were fair of both cattle end sheep. The bidding for cattle was exceedingly spirited aud they realised excellent prices. We sold all at the sale and after excepting 3 milkers. We also sold all the sheep excepting the fat shorn. Our quotations are : -Cattle. — Fat cows, £5 15s to £6 ; fat heifers, £4 9s ; 3-year steers, £5 ; yearlings mixed, £2 6s ; 18 month steers, £2 17s 6d to £2 19s 6d ; wean ers mixed, 38s. Sheep. — Ewes with lambs, 11s 6d to 15s 9d; shorn 2 tooth wethers 9s lOd. Messrs Lowes and lorns report as follows:—At our &t)ok sale at Mastertou on Thursday[the entries of both sheep and cattle were unusually small, but prices were sood, late rates beiug fully maintained; a large number of would-be buyers were unable to suit themselves ; grass being abundant a brisk demand for all classes of store stock is a certainty. Messrs Gorton and Son report on their Hunterville sale, held on Thursday last, as follows : — More cattle came forward than were advertised. The attendauce was good, bidding most spirited, and every head of cattle and sheep were sold at satisfactory rates, being as follows :— Fat bullocks, £7 7s to £8 : fat cows, £4 10s to £5 5s 6d ; three-year steers, £4 7s to £4 11s 6d ; 18-month steers, £3 2s to £4 4s 6d ; 18 month hoifdrs, £2 17s 6d to £3 Is ; mixed yearlings, £2 13s ; milkeis various prices, from £5 5s to £7 ; ewes, with lambs, 14s 7d.
