Ancient Order of Foresters

The annual district meeting of the Wellington District Ancient Order of Foresters was held at Wellington last Thursday. From the report of the district officers, which was presented and adopted, it appeared that death claims amounting to £465 had been paid during the year. A new juvenile court has been started at Woodville, but two other lodges are in a far from prosperous condition, and the assistance of adults is asked for the young lodges. The report points out that recent lagislation permits juvenile societies being registered as branches of the various orders to which they belong, and it is urged that this should be done. Large deficiencies are shown by the valuations in the majority of the courts throughout the district, two only possessing a surplus. The District Fund has increased by £291 4s Id, the increase in financial members being 130. There is an increase of £11 16s 5d in the District Juvenile Fund, the number of juvenile members being 185. The District Fund now amounts to £4486 14s Bd, and the Juvenile Fund to £59 6s 4d. The accumulated funds of the juvenile courts total up to £374 3a, the adult courts' funds amounting to £28,890 16s 7d; the total funds are £33,811 0s 7d, the number of adult members being 2390. -The balance sheet shows the current liabilities to be £308 3s lOd, and the assets £4486 9s Bd. An amount of £4177 Is 5d remains to the credit of the Funeral Fund, and £1 4s 5d to the Management Fund. — N.Z. Times.
