THE MAYORALTY.

TO THE EPITOB OF THE STAB. Sir, — What is the matter with onr borough affairs ? Are the duties too many or the meetings too late, or is it that the £ a. d. are in such a mess that only one of our leading men has the pluck to come forward for the honour ? I think it will be a great pity if we don't haye a contest for the seat. Matters of interest to us all must be faced in the near future, then why not have a choice of leaders ? I would like to see Messrs Oarthew, Sandi-* lands and Gould come forward. I am, etc., Alfred Eade.
