Professor Lichtwark
♦ — r- I^— -' : Professor Lichtwark delivered his inter* esting and instructiye, lecture last night, in the Assembly Rooms, on "The Use and Abuse of the Horse, I ' before a large audience. Dr Monckton presided, and on introducing the lecturer, said that some jears ago, he had attended the Professor's course of instruction, from which he deriyed much valuable information. After explaining to his audience that his method for the breaking and training of horse? were based on a system of kindness and not of ill treatment, the Professor invited those present who desired to join his class, to give in their names as member at a fee of 21s for the course of instruction. About ten gentlemen did so, and it was arranged that the first lesson should be held this afternoon at Dr Monckton's at 2 p.m. The lecturer intw mated that his pupils could appoint their own Treasurer, and that the money need not be handed oyer to himself until they were thoroughly satisfied with his method.
