Kiwitea Sports Annual Meeting
. + _ The annual general meeting in connec tion with the Kiwitea sports was held at the Cheltenham Hotel on Saturday night. There was a fair atendance and Mr Arthur Johnston was elected chairman. The minutes of the last general meeting were read and confirmed. Mr Templer read the balance-sheet which showed a balance in hand of £10 3s 6d. On the motion of Mr Tappin, seconded by Mr W. Johnston, the balance-sheet was adopted. Proposed by Mr Templer, seconded by Mr W. Johnston, That the Kiwitea sports be held this year as usual.— Carried. Mr Templer pointed out that as tbe 22nd January was on a Sunday some other day would have to be adopted, and suggested thafc the Wednesday eifcher before or after should be the day, as being the half-holiday in Fedding. Ifc was finally resolved fco hold fche sports on Wednesday, January 18, 1893. The following were appointed a committee, with the hon. secretary and hon. treasurer ex officio : — Messrs Tappin, Jas. Barrow, A. Johnston, W. Johnston, J. Barrow, H. Currin and Law. Mr Templer was elected hon. secretary and Mr Mitchell hon. treasurer. Mr Law's account for clearing the ground was passed for payment. It was decided to leave the matter in the hands of the committee. Proposed by Mr Tappin, seconded by Mr John Barrow, Thafc in recognition of the seryices he has rendered as hon. secretary, the sum of one guinea be voted to Mr Templer in order that he may purchase some small memento therewith. Mr Tappin said that he had great pleasure in proposing this and only wished that they could afford to give something more substantial as the success of the sports had been largely due to Mr Templer's efforts. The chairman said that he had great pleasure in putting the motion, and paid a high compliment to the way Mr Tern pier had carried out his duties. Having had some experience of what those duties were he could speak with confidence on the matter. The motion was carried with applause. Mr Templer thanked the meeting very heartily for their recognition of his efforts which, he said, would spur him on to try and do more it possible. On the motion of Mr A. Johnston, seconded by Mr Tappin, a vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Mitchell, hon. treasurer, for the use of his paddock for the sports. It was decided to issue a free pass to the sports for every 5s subscribed by one individual. The meeting then adjourned.
