A SOAP FACTORY.

TO THE EPITOB OF THE STAB, Sir, — I see by your paper that soap works are to be started at Wauganui. I think it is a pity that some of the euterpnsing people of Feilding do not combine and start one here. In conjunc- ; tion with a bacon curing factory it would ! pay well, as we have the material on the i spot and cheaper than any where else. I \ see that most of the bacon used here is Canterbury-cured. If the factory was started it would enhance the interests, of the farmers generally, and be a great deal cheaper for the consumers, besides giving a good deal of extra labour for the workers. I hope some one will come to the front and convene a meeting if only to discuss the advisability of starting such an industry. I am, etc., A Farmer.
