Messrs Taylor and Williamson of the Kiwitea Board, met Messrs Lucas and Arbon of the Fohangina Board on Tuesday afternoon last, for the adjustment of accounts between the two bodies. The statement reads as follows : — Pohangina ward account credit— £266 4s 8d t Bnabine ward, £75 11s, thirds £227 7a sd, total £569 3s Id. With respect to new loans, the secretary has now received notice to the effect that no new loans would be granted until outstanding interest was paid. The Onepuhi bridge maintenance was then dealt with, of which the Eiwitea Board is responsible for one-sixth of the cost. It was ultimately arranged that the two Boards be saddled with responsibility in proportion to their valuations. The Pohangina Board will now be liable for five-eighths of the amount, and will incur £25 a-year for the cost of maintenance of this bridge. The loan for constructing parts of the Kimbolton road, Waituna road, Mcßeth's road, and Mackay's line, amounting to £1904, with £95 interest for 22 years, next came up for dis> cussion. Ultimately £11 per annnm was the amount of interest allocated to the Pohangina Board. This proposed adjustment of accounts has to be accepted by both Boards, and it is almost certainly to be confirmed. The Pohangina Board will be liable for loans amounting to £7458, as, also, the aforementioned sums. In addition to the above amount of £62 16s 9d, balance due to the Pohangina Board, some £300 of rates outstanding, and £200 proportion of thirds, are due to this Board, which thus has a sum of oyer £560 standing to its credit when all amounts are fin* ally paid over to it.
