Garratt's side in tueir first venture made 63 runs, extras totalling 15 : all the players sue* ceeded in breaking their duck's etjg, though none reached double figures. JBurlace's side did much better in its second attempt, and made 101, of which number Burlace scored 35 and Strachan (substitute) 25, extras again totting up to 19. Garratt's side only succeeded in putting together 48 in their second effort, thus losing the match by 34 runs. The only double figures in this inning were made by Joe Rooinson, who scored 13. and Baillie 12 runs. In the bowling department, Robinson took five and Garratt three wickets, iii the first innings of Burlace's side, and in the second innings, Bailhe took three and Garratt four wickets Burlace and Rutherford bowled most successfully when Garratt's team were battiug. Burlace took five wickets in each innings, and Rutherford three in the first, and four wickets in the second innings. Burlace proved a tower of strength to his side, as without him they would have fared very badly. Altogether a most enjdyable afternoon was spent, and the luitial attempt of the new Club augurs well for a successful season as several members showed that they knew how to wield the willow, and in the bowling department some good form was likewise exhibited.
