(PEB PBESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, October 21. An elderly woman, Mary Ana M ooney, was sentenced to twelve months' hard labor as an idle and disordinary person, A girl, fourteen years old. deposed that prisoner met her late at night and took her to a man who seduced her. Prisoner took money from the man and left the girl at a bouse of ill- fame, saying she would earn whips of money for them. The woman who kepi the house sent for Detective Hughes and asked him to take the girl to her friends. The girl gave evidence in Court, and has now returned to her parents. i At the reception of the Gorernor yesterday a serious accident occurred. A buggy with two horses bolted into the middle of the dense crowd, and nine persons were injured. Wellington, This Day. At the annual meeting of the Wellington Woollen Company last night the report recommending the payment of a dividend at the rate eight per cent per annum was adopted. The chairman in his address said the year just closed been one of progress and prosperity for the Company. Dunedin, This Day. In terms of the Public Accounts Committee's Report the Colonial Bank, from the new year, will receive one third of the Government regular remittances to London.
