Meeting of Cricketers
A well attended meeting of gentlemen interested in the formation of a Cricket Club for Feilding, was held at Light's Denbigh Hotel last night. Mr Burlace presided on the motion of Mr Rutherford j ! seconded by Mr A. Parr. [ Resolved, Thata Cricket Club be formed in Feilding, to be called the Manchester Cricket Club. Proposed by Mr Garrat, seconded by Mr Rutherford, that Messrs Bui lace, Belfit, and Rutherford, be appointed a 11 ground committee." Pronosed by Mr Burlace, seconded by Mr Rutherford, that Mr W. G. Haybittle be appointed President of the Club. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Rutherford, seconded by Mr G. Lethbridge, that Messrs Sandilands and Wollerman be appointed Vice Presidents of the Club.— Carried. Proposed by Mr Waugh, seconded by Mr Rutherford, that Mr Burlace be appointed Secretary and Treasurer of the new Club. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Burlace. seconded by Mr Rutherford, that Messrs Valentine, Garrat, Belfit, Sandilands, and Parker form the match committee. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Burlace, seconded by Mr Waugh, that Messrs Scott, Morey, Garrat, Percival, and Valentine constitute the general committee. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Rutherford, seconded by Mr Valentine, that the annual subscription be fixed at 7/6 .—Carried. Resolved, That the subscription for honorary members be a guinea. Mr Light handed in his name as an honorary member. The names of oyer 40 gentlemen likely to become members were given in during the evening, so there is every probability of the Club being a great aucuess. A vote of thanks to the Chairman closed the proceedings.
