(PKB PKESB ASSOCIATION.) Wanoanui, October 19. The Vice-Kegal party left by the train this morning for New Plymouth. Lord Glasgow expressed himself as charmed with the trip up the Wanganui river yesterday, describing the scenery as magnificent. Wellington, October 19. Mr Purvis, chief engineer of the lonic, succeeded in bringing nine lobsters alive out of 12. On two previous attempts all died. They are a present from Mr Ewen, of Sargood Son and Ewen, to the Otago Acclimatisation society, and will be sent South as soon as possible. Mr Purvis also brought 22 Teneriffe partridges, and a pair of Teneriffe grouse for the local society. Auckland, October 10. Philip Tennyson Cole, artist, of Melbourne.was arrested on a warrant to-day on a charge of intending to desert his wife, Alice Mary Cole, and leave her without means of support. He was re* manded to the 22nd instant, and was admitted to bail. PoitT Chalmers, This Day. Arrived— The French cruiser Duchaffault, Captain Macecon, 6 guna, from Hobart. Dunedin, Octaber 19. Three candidates, one of them being Miss Jessie Cox, presented themselves in the Dental Examination this week, and all passed. Miss Cox is the first lady to pass the dental examination in New Zealand.
