Colyton Notes
The Sale yards which Mr Watts has built for Mr E. S. Abraham are now finished. The posts and stabs are made of well seasoned totara, and the rest of the timber is of rimu, and the work is well done, in a strong and substantial manner. There were two bushfelling accidents in this neighbourhood on Wednesday last. A man named Hislop whilst working for Mr J. T. Smith, was struck on the head by the limb of a tree, which made a severe scalp woand. He was able however to come into town to see Doctor Sorley who dressed the wound, and the man is going on satisfactorily The other accident was more serious, Alox. Gray was working alone on Mr Gray's property in the Midland road. A tree came down striking him on the side of the head, he lay insensible for some hours, and on coming to. managed to crawl to his whare. The following morning he succeeded in finding hie way to some men working near his place, when Dr Sorley was at once sent for. The Doctor reports the case as a serious one, but it is hoped the man may be removed to Feilding in a few days time, where he, as also Hislop, will stay at Wilson's Boarding House, so as to be handy for medical attendance. It is anticipated that no serious results will follow in either case Gray was brought down to-day
