Beaconsfield Notes
.» — __ I FROM OUR. OWN CO-RESPONDENT. \ I suppose you have been wondering whether I am dead or not that you have heard nothing from me for so long. The fact is nothing has occurred up here worthy of mention. A poor woman was brought from the Waitapu Block the other day suffering from a diseased bone in her leg. It seems that she had it hurt in a buggy accident some four or five months ago before she went into the bush. For a time it was all right, but she caught a cold in it during the damp weather some seven wreks ago. It has been gradually getting worse ever since, and she is now utterly helpless. I am glad to see that the road between here and; Waituna is getting better. It has been in a fearful state in places all through the winter. No doubt insufficiency of metal contributed towards this.
