The Feilding Star. TUESDAY, OCTOBER 11, 1892.

There is rather a craze for establishing butter factories in the colony just now, and if it gets a good start— like the flax mill mama did, not long ago, to the ruin of hundreds of harmless people — there will soon be a butter factory in every " village' hamlet. " There were only 280,711 breeding cows, of which 206,906 were milch cows, in the whole colony in 1891, and since then their numbers cannot have increased in proportion to enable them to meet the extraordinary demands likely to be made on their services.
