HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.
Wellington, October 3. Replying to Mr Richardson, the Hon. Mr Ward said the amendments made by the House in the Laud and Income Act Amendment Bill and the concessions granted amounted to between £20,000 and £23,000. The amendments made by the Legislative Council iv the Shops and Shop Assistants Bill were disagreed with, and Messrs J. Kelly, T. Mackenzie, and W. P. Reeves were appointed a Committee to 1 draw up reasons. The amendments made by the Council in the Fuctories Act Amendment Bill were also disagreed with, and Captain Russell and Messrs Sandford and W. P. Reeves were appointed a Committee to draw up reasons. The debate on the report of the Native Affairs Committee on the petition of Herewini Te Toko was rusumed by the Hon Mr Cadman. Mr Kapa moved that in fhe opinion of thi3 House the Government should compel John Lundoo to ; refund the £713 illegally obtained in connection with, the purchase of the Kaitaia Block. i Several of the speakers referred to Mr Lundon's transaction as a rascally one, while Mr Carroll admitted that ilie i person chiefly responsible for the discreditable affair was Lnndon.
