Constable McGill, who was suspended from police duty for allowing; the escape of the late Carl Moeller, has been reinstated by the Defence Minister. The Marine Department have received adyice from Eussell that the natives say that the wreckage found near there came ashore five weeks ago. If this correct it cannot be the Linda Weber as she had only left here three weeks ago. The Taupo left Greymouth on Saturday night for Lyttelton. She was seen outside the Wellington Heads by the Penguin on Monday night but nothing has been heard of her since. Some anxiety is felt as to her fate, but the Union Company think she may have broken dowu and, being a bad sailor, unable to make a refuge near any telegraph station. All boats on the water are instructed to look ont for her and all likely places on the coasts have been telegraphed to. Auckland, This Day. The enquiry by the Hospital Charitable Aid Board into the charges by Cabb Wood against the management of the Costley Old Peoples Refuge, concluded last night. The Board after an exhaustive discussion decided in favour of the present management, holding the evidence adduced did not bear out the charges of ill treatment. Dunedin, This Day. A company is being floated in London to convert the present tramway seryice into an electric overhead line.
