LATER PARTICULARS.
Wellington. This Day. The enquiry into the circumstances attending the death of Char.'c* Greenrose.. seaman, who has shotjfon Sunday, opened this morning. Mr Poj'ton watched the proceedings on behalf of Finley and G. Hutchison for SecT, 'both the accused being present m custody. Lynch, the seaman, belonging to the ship Wai mate was under examination all the morning, the particulars he gafe of the affray being similar to those already telegraphed,. He said he saw deceased strike Finley before any shots were fired. Finley staggered under the blow and Seel called out to him to " pull out bis gun and shoot" which he did. All the men had been drinking a good deal the previous evening, but were sober on Sunday., The witness was certain he heard five shots fired, but Finley's revolver only accounted for four; He denied he had used threats towards Seel and could not swear that Seel ever drew his own weapon from his pocket. ; Finley aimed three shots at Lynch two going wide of the mark and the other missing fire. WiU ness then ran toward his vessel and did not see Greenrose shot.
