The following will account in a great measure for the illness of the Hon. Mr Ballance. The Napier Telegraph informs us that the Premier gets no rest on Sundays. Too hard- worked during the week to receive the numbers of people who wish to confer with him on public and private matters, Mr Ballance has set apart the j Sunday for that purpose. From fifty to one hundred and fifty persons interview him on that day, and one half of them come to ask for some personal favor. Most of our readers will remember that during the Parliamentary session of 1 890, the late Sir I Harry Atkinson being then Premier, the Opposition being led by Mr Ballance, the Ministry was constantly attacked for the absence of its chief. Sir Harry was on a bed of sickness, but that made no difference to these unfeeling men, who, for selfish political purposes, did their best to make the position of the Government harder, and the life of the Premier almost unbearable. Time brings forth its revengea. We wish Mr Ballance a speedy and a complete recovery.
