Ashurst Notes

(from our own correspondent.) "We notice tbat the first meeting of the Pohangina Road Board is to be held at Feilding. It is no doubt quite right for two or three months, because of tbe assistance tbe new Board will find it necessary to obtain from the Kiwitra Board, but after the preliminaries are settled, tbe board ought to meet at the natural outlet of the Pohangina Valley, which it is needless to say is Ashurst* The great part of the money to be spent by the new Board will be to open up the Small Farm Association Blocks on the Pohangina river, and to do that effectually tbe main road sbould be formed and metalled, continuously from the starting point of the Pohangina road. A meeting of the Ashurst Cricket Club was held iu the Ashurst Hotel on Monday evening, when the following officers were elected. President, Mr J. Cotter; Vice-President, Mr T. Ward ; Committee — Davis, Duley, Freeman, Ingram, Rimmer, Sim, and R. Whibley; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr R. Whibley ; match committee, Freeman arid Whibley. Mr R. Whibley, was elected Captain of the Club for the season. Mr Rimmer was presented with a new bat in recognition of his having done the trick at Bunnythorpe. A vote of thanks to the Secretary, and a similar vote ot thanks to the chairman concluded the meetiug. mmm^ mmmmmmmmmm
