DEATH OF MICK O'BRIEN.

(PEB FBESS ASSOCIATION.) Melbourne, August 31. Mick O'Brien, the well-known jookey, who has been in failing health for some considerable time, died to-day. [O'Brien was associated with most of the earlier triumphs of Carbine in Australia, and also won the Maribyrnong Plate and V.R.C. Oaks for Mr J. Marshall with Necklet and Pearlshell respectively. His numerous other victories included the Melbourne Cup on Sheet Anchor in 1885 and on Mentor in 1888.
