Calcutta, August 24. The cholera has reached Cabul. The Uazarns have driven back the Governor of Gandahar from Chamian to Choorcb. The Ameer's troops are suffering from want of food. The Ameers troops have defeated the rebel Usbegs at Kaisar, and have quelled the rebellion. St Petebsbobg, August 24. The Russian officials have been instructed to allot land to Afghans taking refuge in Russia territory. Ottawa, August 24. The Canadian Pacific Railway Company declares that if necessary they are able to transport troops to Vancouver at the rate of 12,000 per day. New York, August 24. The prisoners arrested during the strike in Nashville assert they belonged to a brotherhood which enforced the death penalty if they refused to strike. Bkhlin, August 24. Of the 340 persons attacked by cholera in Hamburg 300 died yesterday. Dr Koch, who was ordered to report on the outbreak, pronounces it to be of the Asiatic type. Many of the streets in Hamburg are closed to traffic. Pabis, August 24. Cholera has broken out in Hayre. A number of deaths from cholera is reported in Havre. Attention is being given to the study oT the customs and wants of the Russian middle class to enable France to assist Russia in the economic struggle with Germany. Congo despatches prove that M. Poumayre, the French explorer, and 3d followers have been murdered by the natives m a manner similar to that id which M. Crampel's expedition was annihilated. Zanzibar, August 24. Baron Paul and four other leaders oi the German punitive expedition havt been murdered a} Kilimanjaro. Callao, August 23. A great fire has been raging in Callao, seaport of the Peruvian capital. Capetown, August 23. A general election is going on in Natal, the question at issue being the acceptance or rejection of Responsible Government. The opponents of acceptance fear that the English troops will be withdrawn, and the cost of defence thrown on the colony. Washington, August 23. A lady attempting to descend from a balloon, with a parachute, fell three hundred feet, and was killed at Columbia, Ohio.
