Feilding School Committee
» _ The usual monthly meeting of the above was held last night in the sohool house. Present — Messrs Lethbridge (chairman), Taylor, Shearer, E. Worsfold, and Dr Sorley. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The headmaster's report for the past month was as follows : — " The attendance improves but slowly, probably owing to the prevalence of whooping cough amongst the scholars. Average attendance for the week, ending August sth : 226 ; do., ending August 12th : 234 ; do., ending August 19 : 213 ; do., for first two days of the current week: 250."* The headmaster requested permission to order firewood as required. The report states that a great deal of larrikinism takes place in the school grounds, particularly on Sunday nights, and suggests that the headmaster be instructed to summons intruders. Resolved, That Mr Hill be authorised to purchase firewood when necessary. Resolved, That Messrs Shearer and Taylor form a visiting committee to arrange for such repairs as are required on the premises. Resolved, That Mr Hill be authorised to prosecute any trespassers found in the school grounds at night time. This concluded the business.
