Lpbb prbss association.] Christchubch, August 24. In the Kesident Magistrate's Court 1 this morning, Mr Pearce, proprietor | of the Railway Hotel, was charged with selling liquor on Sunday. The evidence showed that nine people were in a private room, one of whom E was drinking. He said he had been > invited bj a boarder. Mr Beetham, E.M., said the matter had already been settled that a boarder had a 1 right to invite a friend to drink. Another charge was that of keeping the bar open. The Resident Magis* ! trate said the cases must hang - together, as if it was lawful to keep i the house open, it was lawful to open 1 the bar to serve the lodger and his ! Mends Both cases were dismissed.
