Determined Suicides
(per press association.) Wellington, This Day. A determined suicide took place last night as the 11.15 train from town was proceeding to the Hutt the driver felt the engine strike some object. On ar> rivnl at his destination an examination of the cowcatcher showed traces of human hair. A return was made and near where the Manawatu line crosses the Government railway the body of a man . named Fredk. Wilton, a Red about 46, was found with the head almost severed. The deceased hnd acted as canvasser for the Sydney Bulletin for some time, and yesterday wrote a letter to a friend stating that for the third time he was about to attempt to take his own life, and hoped he would be successful. From the tone of the letter it is inferred his accounts in connection with the Bulletin were not correct. Timaeu, This Day. M. H. Durham, clerk of the Salvage Corps, was found dead on the Elginshire yesterday. He was strangled by the bight of a rope over a beam. His feet were four inches from the deck. Nothing is known which suggested suicide. He leaves a widow and two children.
