The Hon. John Bryce
The Wellington correspondent of the Dunedin Star on Friday last wrote : — " From one of the most intimate friends of the late leader of the Opposition I learn that there is not the slightest prospect ol the hon. gentleman re-entering public life. To use the language of my informant, 'Mr Bryce is politically dead.' " We are in a position to state that this is absolutely wrong ; also, that the hon. gentleman is politically very much alive indeed. At no time, and under no circumstances) has Mr Bryce ever said that he would not again enter Parliament. As Sir George Grey has been for the last few years a menace and a terror to the Hon. John Ballance, so now is the Hon. John Bryce a menace and a terror to the Hon. Richard Seddon who would gladly " lay the flattering unction to his soul " that his enemy (politically speaking) should remain in retirement. Mr Bryce "bides his time."
