Primitive Methodist Church Anniversary
« The sixteenth anniversary services in coanection with the Primitive Metliodist Church of Feilding were held on Sunday last. The Key. Mr Keall, of Palmerston North, conducted the services bolh in the morning and evening to large congregations, especially in the evening, when the building was so crowded that numbers could not gain admission Be" sides the well-known abilities of the preacher, Miss Neilson, also of Palmerston, assisted in the services with selec' tions on the harp. The anniversary services were wound up last evening by a tea and public meeting in the room in Glasgow House now known as " Short's Hall." The refreshments, winch were provided by the ladies of the churches, were done full justice to by a largo number of friends as well as members of the church The after meeting was ad • dressed by the Rev. Mr Watkin (Wesleyan minister of Sandon). the Rev. Mr Birka ( Wesleyan minister at Birmingham), the Rev Mr Carr (of Halcombe), tlie Hey. H M. Murray (Feilding) the Rev. Mr Lyon and Messrs, J. C fhomp son and J. Gould. Mr Jarvis, of Campbelltown, was the chairman. The pro ceedings were enlivened by musical selections by a strong choir and orchestra, both of which were augmented vvith visitors from Pnlmerston, under the leadership of Mr Simpson, and Miss Neilsnn gave two solos, accompanying herself on the harp During the even« ing Mr J.C. Thompson stated that they hoped to have the Methodist church enlarged before this time next year, that a bazaar was being got up in aid of the church, and, also, that the proceeds of last nieht's meeting had realised over £20. Votes of thanks to those who took such pains to make the affair a success .•Hid the pronouncing the benediction by the Rev Mr Lyon, brought a very enjoy able eyeniug to a close,
