District Meeting 1.0.0.F.M.U

The half-yearly meeting of the above was held at the lodgerooua of the Loyal Manawalu Lodge, Palmerston, last Friday. P.G.M. Bro. Quinn was in the chair, D.G.M. Bro. W. A. Browning in the vice-chair, the C.S., Bro. Hood, also being present from Wanganui, Bros. Bamber, Howard, and Paul ; Manchester, Bro Parker; Manawatu, Bros. W. T. Wood, F. Mowlem, S. J. aud Robt. Relf. A large number ot members of the Loyal Mfunawatu Lodge were in attendance, Bro. Mcllvride, N.G. officiating as 1.6. The minutes of the previous meeting were read, and minor correspondence received. The balance-sheet of the Wanganui District for the half-year was read and adopted. Also the balance-sheets of the Wanganui, Manchester, and Manawatu Lodges. Bro. Hood reported that he had in conjnction with Bro Wright, gone over tho Feilding Lodge books and found everything in a satisfactory state. Bro. Bamber proposed, That a committee be appointed to revise the bye-laws with a view to registration. Registration was a splendid thing. They got men to take stock of the lodges' funds, etc., and they were able then to judge whether they were making progress or not. He pointed out the benefits of being registered, and was in favour of preparing a new set of bye-laws. P.P.G.M. Bro. W. T. Wood agreed with the suggestion of Bro Bamber that a new set of bye-laws was necessary, and seconded the motion with reference to the same, which was put and carried. P.P.G.M. Bro. W, T. Wood proposed, and P.G. Bro. Paul seconded, That a committee of five P.P.G.M.'s be appointed to revise the bye-laws. — Carried. It was resolved, on the motion of P.P.G.M. Bro. W. T. Wood, seconded by P.P.GM. Bio. S. J. Relf, That the committee consist of P.P.G.M.'s Bros. Bamber, Gardner, Wright, Hood, and Lawry, with power to add to their number.— Carried. Proposed by P.G. Bro. R. Relf, That a copy of new bye-laws, as framed by the Committee, be forwarded to each of the lodges in the district for their perusal before being sent to the district for their approval. Seconded by P.G. Bco. Howard, and carried. P.P.G.M. Bro. Bamber moved, That the levy be Is 6d for the management, and Is for the sick and funeral fund for the half year. Seconded by P.P.G.M. Bro. S. J. Relf, and carried. P.P.G.M. Bro. W. T. Wood proposed that the next district meeting be held in Wanganui on the fourth Friday in January, 1893, at 1 p.m. Seconded by , the P.G. Bro. Robert Relf and carried. It was stated that the funds held by the lodges in the district amounted to be£7,ooo and £8,000. The meeting then adjourned.
