The following is the circular of tbe New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Csmpany, (Limited), dated up to llth i une :— Wool— On the 21st ultimo the limit of fresh arrivals for the June series being reached, at 4 p. m. on that day the list was closed. Reports received during tbe past month from the principal centres of consumption, have, on the whole, been of a somewhat disappointing character, manufacturers, complaining , of the difficulty in obtaining prices commensurate with the enhanced value of the raw material. Frozen meats — With plentiful supplies ; and a quiet demand for Home meat dur- ] ing the past month, values have ruled i low. Importations of American beef j have been very heavy, which has neces» < sitated the acceptance of exceedingly low prices at Smithfield in order to effect i clearances, these for a time touching 3£ d , 1 and l£d per lb, for hinds and fores re- { spectively. There was, however, a rather I better feeling at the close. Frozen mutton has met only a fair demand, and i quotations for all descriptions have receded f ully f d per lb since our last issue. 1 Lambs have also realised less money, » although a good enquiry has prevailed for them, but values were decidedly firmer j this morning. Frozen beef has been I dull of sale throughout, and no Improve- 1 ment in this respect can be looked for i until a falling off takes place in shipments of chilled from America.
