He was well recsived wherever he went, and as a result of his endeavours the sum of ..110 had been collected, and a further sum of £80 had since been obtained, and is now in hand. The ladies of the Sewing Bee deserved special acknowledgment for their work, which had resulted in a contribution of over _840. In speaking to this motion the Rev. Mr Hermon said he would term Mrs W. D. Nicholas the Queen Bee, because her energy and industry on behalf of the , church had been invaluable. Messrs Sherwili and Bray were reelected vicar's and people's churchwardens respectively. On the proposition of Mr Hermon, sec. onded by Mr Sherwili, Mr Dyer, Sundayschool superintendent, and the various Sunday-school teachers and workers, were awarded a hearty vote of thanks for their services. The Rev. Mr Hermon, before the close of tbe meeting, touched upon a few questions affecting his charge. He stated that it had been suggested that He should hold a quarterly service at Birmingham, but it was impossible for him to do so, or to get beyond Kiwitea. He had not the horses to enable him to cover more ground than he at present worked, and even if he had
it would be impossible to work harder than be did at the present. He feared the Church of England was losing ground, as there were portions of this district where there were numbers of Church of England members who never got any of tbe church's services. The meeting, which was fairly well attended, considering the inclemerrcy of tbe weather, was closed by tbe chairman pronouncing the benediction.
