Stock Market

> The Egmont Farmers' Union report as follows :— Our Stratford sale, on Friday, the Ist inst., was a failure owing to the terribly bad weather prevailing all day. Very few cattle came forward for gale and not many people were present, so most of the lines were passed in unsold. We quote: Eighteen-months steers, L 3 6s to L 3 Is 6d ; springers, L 4 15s to L 5. We held our fortnightly sale at Manaia on Wednesday, the 6th inst. Quite as many cattle and sheep came forward as were advertised, and there was a good muster of buyers. Bidding was fairly brisk throughout, and most lines of cattle were sold under the hammer, though all the sheep were passed in, not reaching the reserves. We quote bullocks, L 5 to L 5 5s ; 2^-year steers, L 3 10s to L 3 12s 6d ; yearlings and 18 months steers, L 2 to L 3 3s 6d ; weaners, LI Is to LI 11s; springers, L 4 Is to L 5 12s 6d ; store cows, L 3 7s to L 3 15s.
