An immense Tory procession waited on King Oscar at Stockholm, in support of the action of the Crown against the movement demanding the separation of the consulates of Sweden and Norway. The Inebriety Society (London) hai condemned the Keeley remedy for drunkenness as containing 27 per cent of alcohol. The steamers Peter Stuart and St. John of Liverpool, have been wrecked at Cherbourg. Fifteen lives were lost. Mr Dibbs is on a visit to Paris, and it is believed that he will suggest to the French Government that Noumea be exchanged for the New Hebrides. Mr Munro considers that snch an exchange would not be tolerated by the colonists, who perfer that the New Hebrides should be retained solely for the British. The New Zealand Trust and Loan Company declared a dividend of 5s per share. The mine owners hare requested the New South Wales Government to des« patch a military force to Broken H ill, Fighting has taken place between the strikers and police ai Pittsburg. Eleven persons were killed and 25 were wounded. Oil is being poured on the river and fired, in order to prevent reinforcements of police being sent by water.
