This Day. At a meeting of the Liberal Association yesterday the Hon. Mr Reeves said it was not the wish of the Goyernraenfc to force a dissolution. They would not cling to office if they found tbeir power tor good gone, but would fearlessly appeal to the people. Auckland, July 4. At a crowded meeting in the Opera House to-night resolutions were passed in favour of womanhood suffrage, and requested the Legislature to pass an Act granting the franchise to women. The resolutions were proposed and seconded by ladies. Bishop Cowie was present, and spoke in favor of the suffrage. Bkunnebton, This Day. At a public meeting lust night, a re» solution was passed emphatically pro« testing against the passage of Mr Lawry's Compensation Bill. Mastkhton, This Day. At a large temperance meeting last night, a resolution was carried protesting against the Compensation Bill. Ghkistchuboh, July 4. To-night the City Council passed resolution* expressing tbeir high appreciation ofjthe public services of the late Sir H. Atkinson and of sympathy with Lady Atkinson and family. Ashburton, July 4. The Borough Council has passed a resolution regretting the death of the late Sir H. Atkinson and of sympathy with the family. ___^___^__^
