[from our own correspondent. I Colyton now boasts a Glee Club and a theatrical club, formed for the purpose of clearing off the debt that still exists on the Hall. If rumour is correct they are already practising for a sort of social which is to be held in a week or two. Mr Charles Cowan, one of our earliest settlers here has just sold his property adjoining the Spur and Taonui roads to Mr Thomas Shortall, also of Spur road. Mr Cowan will shortly move up to his" new place in tbe Coal Creek Block. Election matters still continue to exist a good deal of interest about the district, but judging from the opinions generally expressed Mr Bruce is far and away the favourite. Grass is very scarce around here just now but the sheep and cattle are in very good condition nevertheless. Eating the pudding is the genuine teat. Try the prices of the Cash Exchange Co-Op. in the same common sense way and surprise and satisfaction will follow. Great success of the Co-Op. principle. Nearly 2000 vouchers have been used. The Co-Op. is preeminently the peoples. Store. Great reduction in all departments. — Advt. The annual stock-taking sale at the Bon Marche, Palmerston North, is now proceeding. The firm are determined to reduce theii present stock at least £2000 previous to the annua! balance, and prices have been made accordingly. Purchasers of Drapery and Clothing at tbis establishment have the benefit of a £6000 stock to select from— Advt. Cobbe and Darragh are now clearing out, at very low prices, their season's accumulation of remnants, consisting of useful length* of dress goods, flannels, shirtings, calicoes, sheetings, cretonnes, moleskins and hollands.— A Dvr. Ammunition at the Red House. S. J Thompson wishes the sporting com no v n i ty to know that he is now prepared to supply all tlieir requirements. Diamond cram powder, all numbers of shot.
