Birmingham Notes
[from our own correspondent. ] The cold weather seems to have effected this place as there is- not much news to report. Plenty of sheep passing through from up country for sale as feed is very short, the frost being very bad for grass. Sheep are rather low in value but it will only be for a time, until the new grass is up, when there will be a return to former prices. This is from a very good authority, so sheep owners need not get down hearted. Mr Bainbridge, Mr Lowes and Mr Holland are about erecting houses on their sections. The contractor for metalling the Kimbolton road has commenced work, starting from the baker's shop towards the cemetery. The Wesleyans meeting at Kiwitea intend having a gathering shortly, when addresses will be given by a number of friends. There is also to be singing, recitations &c, winding up with a coffee supper. Mr Birks has the matter in hand so that a good meeting may be looked for.
