M.P.. demauding £2500, or threatening to inform the police. He tried to poison one of the Lambeth yictims. The powder magazine in ParoloysviMe, Kentucky, was exploded by lightning and 50 persons injured. The members of the provincial Labor Leagues approve Mr Gladstone's attitude on the Eight Hours question. Accounts from Venezuela allege that ex-President Palaoio, before his flight took the precaution of emptying the Tueasury and remitting the money to his personal account in London. He then left for Trinidad. The Government suffered heavy defent at Guanare. Several generals were killed. There is already immense activity and intense feeling over the English general election. Both parties are sanguine, as to the result. Cholera has made its appearance in Afghanistan. The streets are strewn with the corpses of those who have fallen victims to the scourge. A German butcher killed a police sergeant and badly wounded two spec* tators at Charing Cross who attempted to effect his arrest. In the Italian elections the Liberal Part* have been successful. Great crowds attended to cheer Signor Crispi, and shouted dowu the Pope.
