Closing Public Houses
(per press association. Wanganui, Jane 8. At the annual meeting of the Licensing Committee four old licenses were refused, reducing the number of houses to eleven. AH applications for extension of time to 12 p.m. were refused. Cheistchubch, June 8. The annual meeting of the Sydenham Licensing Committee was held to-day. Applications for new licenses for the hotels closed last year were refused. Evidence was then taken for and against the rouewal of licenses then granted. Tit is was not finished this afternoon, and the Committee adjourned till to morrow. Licensees fear that the renewals will be refused.
