Failure of Another Bank
(PKR PBESS ASSOCIATION.) London, June 9. The New Oriental bank suspended payment at six o'clock to-night. The immediate cause of the suspension is that the institution has three-quarters of a million pounds locked up in land and property in Melbourne and half a million in land in the Mauritius. Application has been made to the Bank of England for assistance but the decision of the Directors has been adjourned until tomorrow.
